How to Play the 17-0 Challenge
Nine picks. One roster. One question: can your team go 17-0? Here's exactly how the game works.
Spin the Slot Machine
Each round draws a random franchise and era. Don't like it? You have one team skip and one era skip per game.
Pick One Player
Browse the real roster from that team and era, with overall ratings. In Gridiron IQ mode the ratings are hidden — draft from memory.
Fill Your Roster Slot
Every pick fills an open slot the player actually plays — QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, EDGE, LB, or DB. Each slot can only be used once.
Get Your Projected Record
The engine weights every slot, sums your ratings, and runs them through a non-linear win curve. One weak link can cap your ceiling — balance wins seasons.
Share Your Result
Copy your record or share it on X and challenge your friends to beat it. Then run it back — every spin is different.
Strategy: How to Actually Go 17-0
Going undefeated starts under center. The quarterback is the most heavily weighted slot, so a franchise passer is worth chasing hard — and a weak one caps your projected record on its own. From there, never punt the trenches: a soft offensive line or no edge rush quietly sinks an otherwise loaded roster.
Use your skips aggressively in the early rounds — a thin team on your first spin is a hole you cannot dig out of later. And remember the curve is non-linear: even a top-rated roster only has a chance at 17-0, never a guarantee. The perfect season should feel like history being made.
17-0 Challenge Rules at a Glance
Nine picks, one per round. The slot machine assigns a random team and era each round; eras can repeat. One team skip and one era skip per game. Every pick must fill an open roster slot the player actually plays. The projected record comes from your roster's weighted, normalized ratings run through a non-linear win curve, with gates that punish a glaring weakness. Two modes: Classic shows full ratings, Gridiron IQ hides them. No accounts, no downloads, no cost — just open the page and play.
